With these words, the multitude of the heavenly hosts were proclaiming, finally, humanity would be reconciled--have peace and fellowship-with the Lord God when Jesus removed our sin. Take time this Christmas and join the heavenly hosts in proclaiming, "Glory to God in the highest!" Certainly He is worthy of your praise and is working all things out in a way that will bring you His peace and great joy. Join us on Sunday at 9:30am, as we continue our series, Portraits of Christmas and light the second candle of Advent: Peace. This week, we are going to look at Mary, the mother of Jesus. We are going to look at her story and we are going to look at her song. Her life is an example to us of what service to God looks like. First, Mary acknowledges that she was in need of a Savior and she looked to God for that salvation. Mary's song is a beautiful expression of both praise and worship of God. Her song is about God and an exaltation of who God is. Mary's song is from her heart and exalts the loving God by giving Him His rightful position as Lord and Savior. Let's fill our minds and hearts with Mary's song of praise to God and glimpse the wonder and promise of Christmas! Adult Discipleship Class Study: 11:00am. Join us for a special Christmas study. Continue to pray for them as they pack-up, say goodby to family, and travel from Colorado to Beaverton. This multi-cultural Christmas service will include Christmas music presented in Mandarin, Korean, Spanish and English; scripture reading and prayers in multiple languages; and a time to reflect on the birth of our Savior, Jesus. As you prepare to spend time with family and friends, eating food, watching football, eating leftovers, playing board games, eating more leftovers, napping and, did I mention eating leftovers, don't forget to take time and give thanks to God. Below are some thoughts on things to be thankful for... 1. God's Character: "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love." Psalm 145:8 2. God's Word (Bible): "The Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God's promises to be fulfilled." Romans 15:4 3. The Church: "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." I Corinthians 12:27 4. Health and Healing: "Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases." Psalm 103:3 5. God's Leading: "Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:5 6. Philippians 4:6-7 "I thank God every time I remember you." Philippians 1:3 These verses are just a snapshot of what the Apostle Paul wrote about living a thankful life. In fact, over 49 times throughout his letters, Paul uses some form of the word thanks. Join us this Sunday at 9:30am, as we learn from Paul how to have a "gospel-centered" Thanksgiving. Doug Scripture's best-known worship leader, King David, wrote: "Give honor to the Lord, you angels; give honor to the Lord for his glory and strength. Give honor to the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness." (Psalm 29:1-2). Why should we worship, honor, praise, or give thanks to God? As Max Lucado writes, "How else do you respond to a Being of blazing, blistering, unadulterated, unending holiness"?

Throughout this series, we will be asking the question, "How do we develop the habit of being thankful?" To help us answer this question, we will peer into the everyday activities of some people from the Bible, whose lives were built on a foundation of prayer and thanksgiving. Daniel is one of those individuals who devoted himself to thanking God for...being God. When times got tough, Daniel chose thankfulness, staying faithful to his convictions, and letting God's will play out in his life. God's glory was Daniel's chief concern. See you Sunday! Doug This week we come to the last chapter of Ephesians. In the first half of the book, we talked a lot about our identity in Christ. In the last half of the book, we've talked a lot about living out our identity in Christ. Now that we belong to Christ, our lives look different. Paul spends the time to tell us what the worthy walk looks like. It is based upon the kind of love that God gave us--an Agape kind of love or an unconditional love. Paul has called us to unity. The language Paul uses is clear.
But this week Paul suggests that to walk this worthy walk might just be more difficult than believers might realize. To advance God's kingdom might just be wrought with struggle and battle. In Ephesians 6:10, we come to the fight we are called to fight. We fight with weapons of Heaven, not the weapons of our enemy who seeks to kill and steal and destroy. Paul encourages us to stand! Paul encourages us to take up the armor of God. Paul calls us to prayer. Join us this Sunday at 9:30am, as we explore the images of spiritual battle that followers of Jesus encounter. See you Sunday! Doug Life is made meaningful by relationships, the most meaningful of which is that between a man and a woman in marriage. Peter called it "the grace of life" (I Peter 3:7). Yet the fulfillment of that relationship is elusive. A marriage that continually gets better, richer and more satisfying is rare today. However, when it comes together, matching the divine design, marriage takes on sacred depths. It becomes an interweaving of souls so deeply connected that the Apostle Paul uses the term "mystery" to describe it.
This Sunday at 9:30am, we will dive deep into Ephesians 5, as we hear from Paul on the topic of marriage. In Ephesians 5:22-33, Paul will point us to Christ as the supreme role model for how both husbands and wives are to function within the context of the marriage relationship. Husbands and wives, are you ready to take up the challenge? Are you ready to ask yourself some probing questions and to commit to taking steps toward a close-knit relationship with your spouse? Join us on Sunday, as worship God passionately, connect with one another authentically and grow in our relationship with God and others...especially our spouse. Not married?....Consider joining us anyway, as the biblical principles we will look at on Sunday informs us that everything we do in the Christian life is to be governed by godly, Christlike behavior: humility, gentleness, patience, tolerance, love and mutual submission. How we conduct ourselves in our relationships should bring glory to God, recognizing that we're living testimonies of His undeserved grace and life-giving love. Join us on Sunday at 9:30am.
